Auke is a Lecturer in Law at Liverpool Law School since September 2018. Prior to this, he was a Fellow in EU Law at LSE’s European Institute. In 2017, he completed his PhD in EU criminal law jointly at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université libre de Bruxelles, whilst working as a research assistant on a European Commission-funded project relating to cooperation between data protection authorities.
Auke also completed an LLM in International Law at the University of Edinburgh, an LLM by research on the topic of EU fundamental rights at the University of Glasgow, and a degree in Law (LLB) at the University of Amsterdam.
He is a Guest Teacher at LSE, where he teaches a multi-disciplinary course on Brexit, and a Senior Associate Researcher at the Institute for European Studies in Brussels. He is moreover an editorial board member with the New Journal of European Criminal Law, and has worked as a consultant national legal expert.
Auke has been a visiting researcher at the European University Institute (2016), Columbia University Law School (2014-2015), and Babeș-Bolyai University (2013).
