Thesis Summary

Dr Nazia Yaqub's doctoral project provides the first-ever empirical and critical investigation of parental child abduction between the UK and Islamic law countries.

The study examines the legal and regulatory framework responding to cases of parental child abduction to Islamic law countries, explored through a children's rights framework.

Nazia is now developing her thesis into a Monograph with Bloomsbury Hart Publishers in their series on Private International Law.

Nazia is also engaged with the international and collaborative CATCH80 project which seeks to develop a child-friendly version of the 1980 Hague Convention.
