Research

Alex’s research interests lie primarily in the fields of medical law and criminal law. Alex’s PhD thesis considers the law surrounding Gross Negligence Manslaughter (GNM), exploring how, despite their similar historical backgrounds and positions in society, the two professions, of doctors and the police, have evolved to become so vastly different regarding each professions criminal accountability for GNM. It further considers how (if at all) this can be changed to produce fairer levels of scrutiny in both professions.

Thesis title

This research looks to explain the inconsistencies present in how gross negligence manslaughter effects doctors in comparison to police officers.
