The international judge in residence is a programme of the International Law and Human Rights Unit that is designed to strengthen the links between international courts and the Unit. Every year a judge will be selected to come to the University of Liverpool to deliver a lecture and support our research activities.

This year our judge in residence is Judge Ivana Jelić (European Court of Human Rights).
This year our judge in residence, Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala (International Criminal Court) will deliver a guest lecture entitled: 'Fear and Hope. The revolution of individual liberty in international law between justice and politics. The case of international terrorism.'
Last year's judge in residence, Judge Robert Spano (European Court of Human Rights) delivered a guest lecture entititled: 'The Historical Trajectory of the European Court of Human Rights: Diplomacy, Subsidiarity and the Rule of Law'
