Call for Papers:

Drawing on two successful events, at the University of Liverpool Law School in 2017 and at the University of Strathclyde Law School in 2018, the University of Liverpool will again host the annual two-day doctoral workshop in constitutional theory on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th June 2019. We are delighted to announce that Professor Aileen Kavanagh (University of Oxford) will deliver the keynote lecture, which will be titled: 'The Challenges of Collaborative'.

The workshop will provide a valuable opportunity for doctoral researchers to present and receive feedback on any aspect of their work that touches upon aspects of constitutional theory, broadly defined, be that on a subject directly related to constitutional theory (from a domestic, international, transitional, or comparative perspective), or more doctrinal projects which may benefit from feedback on a specific theoretical element. Speakers will present their work for feedback from an assembled panel of experts.

Throughout the two days, our expert panellists will also present aspects of their own work. Furthermore, participants are invited to attend a number of doctoral training sessions, on the process of PhD-writing, academic publishing, and applying for academic positions.

Submission of applications

Submissions are encouraged from candidates at any stage of their doctoral studies. Interested postgraduate researchers are invited to submit abstracts of no more than 500 words, along with a short biography (in the same document) to both Ben Murphy (B.L.Murphy@liverpool.ac.uk) and Mark Bennett (M.N.Bennett@liverpool.ac.uk).

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 31st March 2019.

Successful applicants will be informed no later than Friday 5th April 2019 and will be invited to submit an extended abstract/short overview of their paper (2000 words) by Sunday 26th May 2019.
