"The Supreme Court’s decision is morally and legally correct.
"Victims of police wrongdoing should be compensated and there is no reason why the police should receive special treatment when those in other public service jobs do not have immunity from negligence actions.
"Police officers who take reasonable care when performing their duties have nothing to fear from this decision, though, as the courts will take account of the difficult circumstances they face when investigating crimes and arresting suspects."
