Chinese Studies; Translation Studies
In 2015-2016, I co-taught MODL304 "Terror Remembered: Representing Traumatic Histories in Latin America, Europe and China" together with Prof Eve Rosenhaft (the convenor) and Prof Clair Taylor. My lectures for this module focused on two topics: 1. Nanjing Massacre in the (Second) Sino-Japanese War; 2. Chinese Children in the Caste System in the Cultural Revolution. In 2014-2017, I co-taught MODL311 Advanced Translation. My lectures for this module focus on two topics: 1. The translator's visibility and invisibility: cultural hegemony in the translation world; 2. New tech in visual-audio translation.
I am co-supervising four PGR students as the following:
Susie Gordon (since 2016): "The Persistent Appeal of the “China Exotic” in English Fiction Since 1978"
Siwen Lu (since 2017): "The subtitling of swearing from English into Chinese: a multimodal perspective"
Sijing Lu (since 2017): "Understanding the Social Dynamics of Self-mediated Fansubbing in China: A Bourdieusian Perspective"
Yang Hang (XJTLU, since 2019): "Intercultural Competence of Chinese Undergraduates in the context of International Higher Education Institution"
