My research is from interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives. My research interests lie primarily in
Occidentalism and Orientalism
national identities
sociology of translation studies
historiography of translation

Since 2017, I have been co-supervising two students on PhD examining film subtitling industry and fan-subbing communities in China, and one student on PhD exploring new Orientalism and understanding of China in Anglo-American literature.
