Setting up Follow-You printing for Mac OS X 10.7+

Follow-You printing 

Follow-You printing can be released on any Ricoh MFD. Save the three following open source disc image files (.dmg) to your download or folder of your choice:

Once you have saved the files:

  • Navigate to the folder where your files are savedDouble-click on gplgs-8.71.dmg (GhostScript 8.71)

A disk image is mounted and a window displays the contents of the folder:

   

 

  • Double-click on the package named GPL Ghostscript.mpkg
  • Keep clicking the Continue button and accept the licence agreement when necessary
  • Click on the Install button & enter your administrator account password (this may be your main account)
  • After receiving confirmation that the installation was successful, click on the Close button.

Next:

  • Double-click on foomatic-rip-4.0.6.230.dmg (print filter)
  • A window will appear displaying the contents of the folder:

  •  Double-click on Foomatic-RIP.pkg
  • Keep clicking the Continue button and accept the licence agreement when necessary
  • Click the Install button & again enter your administrator password
  • After receiving confirmation that the installation was successful, click the Close button.

Next:

  • Double-click on pxlmono-1.9.dmg
  • A window will appear displaying the contents of the folder

  • Double-click on the package named pxlmono.pkg
  • Keep clicking the Continue button
  • Select the language if other than English

You can now eject the disc images by clicking on them.

Setting up Follow-You printing

Open Safari and type in localhost:631

If you get the following error message:
'The web interface is currently disabled. Run "cupsctl WebInterface=yes" to enable it'.
Open the Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and run: cupsctl WebInterface=yes

Under Cups for Administrators:

  • Click on Adding Printers and Classes,
  • Enter your Mac administrator username and password, 
  • In the next window Add Printer
  • On the Add Printer page click the Windows Printer via spools then Continue.

On the next page enter either:

  • smb://print1.livad.liv.ac.uk/StaffQueueNorth  if you are on the Victoria Building side of Brownlow Hill  or you are not on the main Campus
  • or smb://print2.livad.liv.ac.uk/StaffQueueSouth if you are based in Central or South Campus

  • Click Continue
  • On the next page give the printer a name, and then click Continue.

On the next screen:

  • Click Choose a File
  • In the search area type in ppd

You will  need to select a print queue from the list.  We recommend that you select the following option which will allow you to print in black and white as well  as in colour or with special finishes such as stapling or folding. 

  • In the list that appears scroll to Ricoh-Aficio_MP_C5501-pxlcolor-Ricoh.ppd.gz
  • Click Choose
  • When returned to the previous screen click Add Printer.

From the Options Installed change the Finisher to SR3030

  • Click the General tab
  • Change the PageSize: to A4
  • Change Duplex: to Long Edge

  • Click Set Default Options
  • Close Safari

The first time you print, the job will be on hold as you need to authenticate:

  • Click on Resume - or if using Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) click on the circular arrow next to the document
  • From System Preferences click Network, then Advanced, then on the WINS tab, change the Workgroup field to LIVAD Ensure Remember this password in my keychain is ticked
  • Enter your username and password (note this is different from previous versions where you needed to add livad\ before your  username).
