New term, new names for Blackboard apps!

Published on 26 September 2017

Yay it’s the start of term! You’ve bought your new pencil case, got labels in your shirts, had the obligatory ‘start of school’ photo in front of the fireplace… oh wait you’re not 4 years old…

You’ve survived Welcome Week, got to know the people you’ll be ‘borrowing’ milk from for the next year, now to check your Blackboard app… WOAH. Yes. It’s changed. But don’t panic. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. If you’re a student you need the Blackboard app. You can find out more about it here  https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/csd/mobiles-and-tablets/blackboard-app/
  2. It used to be called Bb Student and if you’ve got Bb Student installed all you need to do is update the app and it will magically become the Blackboard app.
  3. If you were a fan of the retro Blackboard Mobile Learn, this is no longer supported and might not work at all - you need to get yourself the shiny new Blackboard app. https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/csd/mobiles-and-tablets/blackboard-app/
  4. If you’re a member of staff stop right there. You need the Blackboard Instructor app, find out more about that here https://help.blackboard.com/Blackboard_App/Instructor
