20th Anniversary of the CSD Helpdesk

Today marks the 20th Anniversary of the Computing Services Helpdesk. To mark the occasion, the Helpdesk is changing it's name to the CSD Service Desk. This change reflects the service-oriented philosophy by which the Computing Services Department operates and the broad, customer-centred approach of our Service Desk.

The Service Desk will still be your main point of contact on a day-to-day basis as the focal point for reporting issues or submitting requests relating to IT services at the University. There are now many more ways for you to get in touch including:

  • Visiting one of our 'pop-up' desks in key locations at certain times of the year to make it even easier for you to get the help you need, when you most need it
  • Video calls from the Harold Cohen Library, Sydney Jones Library, and London Campus, to the main Service Desk team at Brownlow Hill Building
  • Through online chat if you have a quick question or want to report a problem

The usual methods to get in touch are also still available, including: by phone (0151 794 4567), through our online portal at http://help.liv.ac.uk, or by visiting one of our Service Desks for face-to-face support. You can also still reach the Service Desk by email - our email address has changed to servicedesk@liverpool.ac.uk. This isn't all; over the next few months we'll be working to enhance our services through a major project to introduce a new Service Management system. This system will:

  • Enable us to manage your incidents and requests more efficiently
  • Offer improved self-service
  • Provide a knowledgebase to help you make the most of the University's IT services

Computing Services strives to deliver service and support of the highest quality. Building on the strong foundations of the last twenty years, these initiatives will help us towards our aim of ensuring staff and students can make the most of the IT services available.
