Bye bye 90 day password expiry - but just as you thought it was safe to go back in the water....

You will have read or heard the fantastic news by now that we are getting rid of compulsory 90 day password expiry- no-one could be happier than us as, contrary to popular belief, we didnt want to bring it in in the first place. But that's all history and we are now faced with the somewhat annoyingly complex issue of removing this requirement whilst minimising the chances of you getting locked out of your account.

Why would I get locked out of my account when nothing else has changed I hear you ask? Well that will be because things have moved on since password expiry was introduced and now most of us have phones or tablets configured to automatically log onto our University email account (email is the most likely culprit) or possibly some other University service.  Automatic logons are fantastic if everything is still configured correctly but if not the repeated failed attempts result in your account being locked and you wont even realise the failed attempts have been made! Really annoying.

So now is the time to check your phones and tablets and make sure they have the right password saved - it wont take a minute - we have all the advice you need on our webpages at http://www.liv.ac.uk/csd/mobile/ and you can even use Webmail to check which devices you have set up to access your email - it's the ones you have forgotten about or do not use regularly which are likely to be the ones which cause the problem.

So its great news but we need you to do your bit and not leave it til you get locked out.....
