Making your application

We welcome your application to join us at the University of Liverpool International Summer School.

You will be able to choose either to concentrate your studies within one pathway or alternatively, to pick and mix modules to suit your needs and those of your home university.

  • Entry Requirements

To apply to the International Summer School, we expect the following:

    • You will be a student at postgraduate or undergraduate level at a university worldwide or have completed an undergraduate degree at a university worldwide.
    • You will be aged 18 or over on the first day of the course.

    English Language Requirement

If English is your second language, you must have a minimum level of English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0/CEFR B2/Upper intermediate or above.

We are able to accept a range of exam certificates as proof of your proficiency in English.  If you do not have a recent certificate, we are able to send you a short online test.

Because we do not require a secure English language test, any student who is found to fall significantly below the required level on arrival may be refused registration.

  • Credit Transfer

Each accredited module will have a credit value of 5 University of Liverpool credits (equivalent to 2.5 ECTS)

At the end of your programme you will receive a University of Liverpool certificate. An official transcript will subsequently be sent out to you or your home university.

On successful completion of your ISS modules in each three-week programme you can earn up to 20 UoL credits equivalent to 10 ECTS.

It is your responsibility to discuss credit transfer with an academic adviser at your home university before making your application, as arrangements can vary from institution to institution.

Credits earned on the International Summer School are transferable only to non-University of Liverpool awards.

  • Visa

If you require a visa to enter the UK you will usually need to apply for a Short-term Study Visa to attend the International Summer School.  Please note, however, that you should always check the immigration requirements for your country and your passport before departing for the UK.  It is your responsibility to make sure that you have the correct visa. You are advised to check the website.
