Students have begun their studies in a range of online postgraduate taught programmes as part Liverpool Online, the partnership between the University of Liverpool and Kaplan Open Learning.

The suite of online programmes under the new partnership was announced last year. Programmes for students include an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, , an MSc in Healthcare Leadership, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).

Under the partnership, the University and Kaplan have an ambitious plan to launch more than 20 programmes over the next two years, in areas of  academic excellence with Kaplan’s digital expertise and with a primarily international focus.

Transnational education

The University is the largest provider of transnational education in the Russell Group and the fifth largest in the UK. Recognised as a pioneer in online education and a European market leader for wholly online postgraduate programmes, the University’s first online academic class took place in 2000 when 18 students – mostly from the Netherlands – began an MSc programme in Information Technology. It now has more than 17,000 online graduates in 171 countries.

The University’s online courses are delivered on a part-time, flexible basis and allow students to study 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Teaching is delivered using state-of-the-art technology and sector-leading pedagogy in online classrooms that transcend national boundaries and include students from across the globe, enriching learning and providing a unique student experience.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming our first students to the University’s new suite of online programmes. The University and Kaplan each have considerable experience in delivering high quality online education. We are confident that the combination of the University’s academic strengths with Kaplan’s digital expertise will position Liverpool Online at the forefront of the next generation of online learning.”

Academic quality

Kaplan Open Learning was established in 2007 and has attained a gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework for its online education provision. It consistently achieves high National Student Survey ratings with an average of 91% over the last five years.

Within the growth plan, the University and Kaplan have committed to ensure academic quality, admissions standards and high levels of student satisfaction, in order to help the University grow its global influence while protecting its academic integrity and reputation.

Kaplan Open Learning has the established UK and international infrastructure to deliver the university’s academic requirements, including online instruction and student support.
