Public Engagement

The staff and students at the Institute of Integrative Biology have a passion for science and love sharing this passion with the public. We encourage our staff and PhD students to participate in a wide range of public engagement activity.

At our Institute

We organise events in our Institute, including Christmas lectures. We also host secondary school students to give them a flavour of scientific research. During the summer many labs host sixth form students through Nuffield Research Placements.

Out and about

Throughout the year staff visit schools and attend public events, taking hands-on activities for the public to participate in. This helps relate classroom science to real life, with the aim of inspiring people to take an interest in science and pursue a career within the field. Recent exhibitions have been held at the World Museum Liverpool, Ness Gardens and the Big Bang Fair.

Our experts also contribute to the media, including articles in newspapers and magazines, and radio and TV programmes.
