Public Engagement

We have a passion for science and love sharing this passion with the public. Our staff and PhD students participate in a wide range of public engagement activity throughout the year.

At our Institute

We organise events in our Institute, including Christmas lectures. We also host secondary school students to give them a flavour of scientific research. During the summer many labs host sixth form students through Nuffield Research Placements.

Out and about

Throughout the year staff visit schools and attend public events, taking hands-on activities for the public to participate in. This helps relate classroom science to real life, with the aim of inspiring people to take an interest in science and pursue a career within the field. Recent exhibitions have been held at the World Museum Liverpool, Ness Gardens and The Big Bang Fair.

Our experts also contribute to the media, including articles in newspapers and magazines, and radio and TV programmes.

You can find many of our experts on Social Media and Blogs.

You can find out more about our activities on our Outreach blog and Twitter.
