Dentistry

Within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, the School of Dentistry is committed to providing high quality dental research training that will enhance the individual’s academic and clinical development to improve oral health.

Dental research at the University of Liverpool is integrated into the research strategies of several research-led Institutes in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, bringing together scientists across a broad range of topics in order to attain critical mass and develop clinical and basic science interactions. Recent close collaborations with NIHR trainees have involved the Institutes of Ageing and Chronic Disease (management of orofacial pain);  Integrative Biology (identifying novel periodontal pathogens) and the Institute of Psychology, Health and Society (Dental Public Health research). Long-term links also exist with the Institutes of Translational Medicine (in head and neck oncology) and Infection and Global Health (oral microbiota and oral diseases).  Educational research is being undertaken in the School of Dentistry supported by the Institute of Learning and Teaching.

You are advised to contact the School to discuss your proposed subject area to help identify the most appropriate Research Institute to help with research degree opportunities.
