Aims |
|
Provide students with an introduction to promotion and marketing practices relating to contemporary popular music. Encourage self-reflexivity on students' own creative practice. Develop students' critical thinking around popular music and identity. |

Syllabus |
|
Topics will include; promotion, branding, web and viral marketing, self-management, professional networks, DIY culture and audiovisual contexts. Students will be expected to apply these issues and approaches to either their own creative practice (as a musician/producer/composer/songwriter/promoter etc) or a real world case study of their choice. The course will also include guest talks from practitioners within the field. |
