Aims

The module aims to give students a final-year "capstone" experience in music composition, with formative assessment at the end of first semester leading to a final composition at the end of the second. The module aims to support students wishing to go on to related postgraduate courses or jobs in music composition.

Syllabus

 

Module content will depend on the student's proposed area of specialism. Module staff should be consulted at the end of second year in order to determine appropriate topics and methods for the beginning of third year. One-to-one lessons will be with a specialist tutor in the relevant area. Large group sessions may cover topics such as compositional methods, proper implementation, and technical considerations.

The majority of teaching will be delivered face to face on campus. Online delivery will be used to complement the on campus delivery and where technology affords a better learning experience.
