Teaching and Learning Strategies |
|
|
The teaching will normally be delivered face-to-face on campus. Online delivery may be used to complement the on-campus delivery and where technology affords a better learning experience. The module is taught three hours per week except in tutorial week. These are all seminar-style classes and are conducted in the target language. Students are expected to come prepared and actively participate. All skills are practiced in an integrated way and sociocultural topics relating to the Hispanic-speaking world are embedded into the weekly content. The first hour typically focuses on the comprehension, analysis, and written production of texts in different genres, the second hour focuses on the comprehension and analysis of written and audiovisual texts and on the development of speaking skills, and the third hour, on listening and translation via the means of interpreting. Verbal feedback is provided during the classes to facilitate students’ development of appropriate , accurate, and fluent usage of Spanish, and opportunities for individual feedback on progress are available during the tutors’ office hours and by appointment. Additional material is available on CANVAS for independent study and students are strongly encouraged to engage with the Language Lounge activities and the multiple opportunities for conversation exchange they offer. |
