Aims

The aim of the Portfolio is to give students the opportunity to reflect in three 500-word milestones on their personal development as well as on linguistic or cultural or political issues they come across at their placement.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) To reflect on the personal development

(LO2) To write about a linguistic, cultural, or political topic

(LO3) To explain the topics/issues selected for and examined in the Milestones.

(LO4) To explain the relevance of the materials used.

(LO5) To explain the analytical methods employed.

(S2) Commercial awareness - relevant economic / political understanding

(S3) Improving own learning / performance - reflective practice

(S4) Time and project management - project management

(S5) Communication (oral, written and visual) - academic writing (including referencing skills)


Teaching and Learning Strategies

This module allows students spending the second semester of their Year Abroad on an Independent Work Placement or as a British Council English Language Teaching Assistant, to have their semester assessed through a language-focused Year Abroad Placement.


Syllabus

 

The Placement assessment gives students the opportunity to create and reflect in different submission formats their goals, employability skills, digital skills, their personal development, as well as on linguistic or cultural or political issues they come across at their placement.
