Aims

To provide students with grammar knowledge and good competence in reading, writing, listening and speaking required for an intermediate standard;

To provide students with an awareness of cultural aspects of Austria and Switzerland.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

The majority of teaching will be delivered face-to-face on campus. Online delivery will be used to complement the on-campus delivery and where technology affords a better learning experience.

Seminar:
This module consists of two hours per week general language teaching (speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar) in German, one hour "Landeskunde Österreich und die Schweiz" and preparation for the year abroad per week, and one fortnightly hour each for listening and for translation in alternating weeks.

Tutorial:
Tutorials take place in week seven and 12 where students will discuss their academic writing skills and language progress on a one-to-one basis.
