Aims

To construct and research a project on an appropriate topic which is clear and realistic in scope and seeks to make a distinct contribution both to the student’s own learning and to debates within their chosen field;

To select and synthesise appropriate primary and secondary sources.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) A systematic knowledge, understanding and critical awareness of key themes and approaches in the study of the field covered by the MA programme.

(LO2) The acquisition of practical academic skills. Demonstrated through planning and writing the project, appropriate selection of primary and secondary sources and the digital skills involved in these.

(LO3) The ability to present a major piece of independent work showing clarity of structure and style and in accordance with appropriate presentation guidelines.

(S1) Proficiency in digital resources and tools for research as required by the chosen research project.

(S2) Time and project management, and autonomous organisation of work.

(S3) Understanding and application of appropriate terminology and analytical criteria.

(S4) Identifying and accessing relevant sources of information and materials.


Teaching and Learning Strategies

The majority of teaching will be delivered face-to-face on campus. Online delivery will be used to complement the on-campus delivery and where technology affords a better learning experience. The module will primarily be taught via:
