Aims

Provide the opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in class to real time practices in a professional environment;

Encourage students to acquire new knowledge and skills from translation/interpreting practitioners and reflect on their own practices;

Enable students to critically engage with translation/interpreting-related professional standards and ethic codes and reflect on the application of social justice and inclusion principles to professional translation/interpreting practices.

Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Apply translation/interpreting theory in a professional setting

Teaching and Learning Strategies

1 x 1 hour workshop
You will attend one 1-hour preparatory workshop, which introduce the aim, structure and assessment of the module.

One-to-one Supervision
Students will have 4 hours one-to-one supervision by a member of staff to monitor their personal and professional progress, support their problem-based learning and preparation for their portfolio as assessment.

Syllabus
 

You will attend a one-hour preparatory workshop, which introduce the aim, structure and assessment of the module and 4 hours of one-to-one supervision with a member of staff. In the supervision, you will be supported to reflect on your progress, resolve problems that you might encounter in your placement and prepare for your portfolio.
