Syllabus

This module will focus on developing students’ creative practice. In small-group workshops, students will present their writing for critical reflection, as well as reflecting on the work of their peers. There are no set parameters as to the kind of creative writing students may produce, as the module is an opportunity for them to begin to build a creative portfolio that best reflects their interests as writers. Accordingly, students are also expected to demonstrate how their reading is supporting and shaping their creative practice (a whole-cohort workshop will offer approaches to this). As such, the majority of the reading for this module will be dictated by the interests of the student, though a small amount of reading will be provided by tutors, alongside individual guidance on texts/authors a broader reading list on creative writing. Students will be expected to submit writing prior to tutorials and to be prepared to offer detailed feedback on that of their peers.
