Aims

The aim of this module is to provide students with working experience within a commercial or industrial environment and to gain an understanding of the various operational aspects of a company, of its products and working practices.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) At the end of the module students should have an appreciation of the working practices of the organisation hosting the placement and show an ability to make a contribution towards its daily operaton.

(LO2) Students should gain practical experience of software design and development, and coding practices within industrial/commercial environments;

(LO3) Preparation of reports and other relevant documentation

(LO4) Working practices within industrial/commercial environments

(LO5) Experience with management of time and resources


Syllabus

 

1 Dependent upon placement. The types of placement vary considerably but can include all aspects of information management and software development within a company. Placements can take place in software development companies as well as in ICT departments of companies in other lines of business.
