Aims

The objective of the module is to provide a graduate level  introduction to game theory. This is the study of strategic interactions, ie situations where outcomes depend not only on our own actions but also how others react to our actions.

Strategic-Form Games:

Dominance and iterative dominance;
Nash equilibrium;
Correlated equilibrium;
Rationalizability;
Applications.

Extensive-Form Games:

Mixed and behavioural strategies in extensive-form games;
Backward induction and subgame-perfect equilibrium;
Sequential equilibrium;
Perfect and proper equilibria;
Applications.

Incomplete Information:

Bayesian games and Bayesian equilibrium;
Mechanism design;
Perfect Bayesian equilibrium;
Signaling games and forward induction;
Applications.

Repeated Games:
Infinitely and finitely repeated games;
The Folk theorem with perfect monitoring;
The Folk theorem with imperfect public monitoring;
Reputations;
Applications.
