Aims

The module aims to provide a comprehensive foundation to the study of management theory and its application in practice. It seeks to consider the conceptual frameworks relevant to the behaviour of individuals and groups in organisations, and the issues which are raised in their management.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method - Lecture
Description: This will be in the form of a standard lecture with opportunities for students to participate in the traditional way but also through technologies such as PollEverywhere and Mentimeter. Lectures will also be a prelude to seminar activities on key themes.

Description: The seminars will follow on from lectures, giving students opportunity to share and further develop their understanding of key themes. Additionally, practical assignment preparation will take place in seminar classes.

Description: Self-directed learning mostly will take the form of reading (journal articles, textbook chapters, and reputable web sources), seminar work planning (answering pre-prepared questions) and assessment preparation. Students will also be e ncouraged to view relevant film materials.
