Aims

The module is designed to enable students to develop a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by HR professionals. This includes the competencies needed by HR professionals in a personal capacity, when collaborating and working with others, and when functioning efficiently and effectively in an organisational context. It will enable students to assess their own strengths and identify a continuing professional development plan, based on the capabilities required for ethical, business-focused and interpersonal professional conduct.


Learning Outcomes

(LO2) Students will be able to critically reflect on the rhetoric and reality of HRM in practice.

Syllabus

 

This module is designed to develop the fundamental skills needed for professional HRM practice. Students will engage with HRM strategy debates, the preparation of a business focused report on a HR issue, enhancing employee engagement, learning and development, performance and reward management. There will be the opportunity to develop interviewing and appraisal skills.
