Aims

The aim of this module is to provide students with understanding of contemporary people management issues from a performance management perspective. The module will engage with contemporary debates in human resource management issues such as engagement, commitment and capability.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Demonstrate critical and ethical awareness of the strategic and operational implications for performance management systems within organisations.

(LO2) Describe how performance management systems can be integrated into existing management systems and work.

(LO3) Explain the roles and responsibilities for performance management.

(LO4) Discuss and critique the implications of contemporary performance management approaches.

Teaching Method 1 - Lecture


Syllabus

 

The syllabus will generally cover: the strategic role and context of performance management; individual, group and organisational performance management systems; performance management and developing personal, group and organisational capability; performance management roles and responsibilities, performance and reward; managing engagement and commitment; human capital; contemporary challenges in performance management.
