Aims

To require students to analyse, evaluate and conclude on the assurance engagement and other audit and assurance issues in the context of best practice. To consider current developments in audit and assurance.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Students will be able to recognise the legal and regulatory environment and its impact on audit and assurance practice.

(LO2) Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively on an assurance or other service engagement within a professional and ethical framework.

(LO3) Students will be able to assess and recommend appropriate quality control policies and procedures in practice management and recognise the auditor’s position in relation to the acceptance and retention of professional appointments.

(LO4) Students will be able to identify and formulate the work required to meet the objectives of audit assignments and apply the International Standards on Auditing.

(LO5) Students will be able to evaluate findings and the results of work performed and draft suitable reports on assignments.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method 1 - Interactive Lectures
Description: Lectures will be delivered in full day blocks (9 days x 7 hours). A full day block of lectures involves the student attending class from 9am to 5pm with breaks. The day involves a range of activities which can include lectures, guided scenario and question practice, group work and open discussion on relevant business areas. Full day contact with academic staff therefore provides the opportunity for students to interact with each other and with academic staff, to work in teams and receive real time guidance.
