Teaching and Learning Strategies

Teaching Method 1 - Flipped classroom and lectures (Large Group Teaching)
Description: The students will be given directed learning from the e-book to work through, with a structured timetable of when each chapter needs to be completed by. This will be supported by lecturer's notes and short recordings by the lecturer on the topics within the book, as well as podcasts that debrief questions attempted. The students will then be tested through quizzes and other activities when they attend the fortnightly seminars related to the topics from the previous weeks and their progress monitored to ensure that they are keeping on top of their studies and understanding the content.

Unscheduled Directed Student Hours: Students will be directed to work within teams on the business simulation game (see assessments) outside of lecture time, which will help demonstrate the application of what is covered within lectures.

Description: Workshop time will be working within teams on assessment-based activities.

Self-Directed Learning Hours: 120.5
Description: The module will be assessed through the use of a team-based activity (a business simulation game), which will require students to work outside of class on a regular basis throughout the semester. This should allow students to apply the knowledge gained in lectures to simulated business situations. The module will also be assessed through the use of a mid-term exam. This will ensure that the students have consolidated their personal knowledge gained in lectures and through group work.
