Aims

The aims of the module relate to the skills and techniques needed to undertake the three elements required to make a seminar paper presentation and a conference poster presentation.

To develop techniques used in writing a paper abstract that conveys ideas clearly and concisely.

To discuss how to present research information and ideas clearly to an audience using the spoken word and relevant technology.

To develop techniques to present research information and ideas clearly in the form of a conference poster.


Learning Outcomes

(LO1) Students will develop knowledge and skills relating to the preparation of seminar abstracts.

(LO2) Students will develop knowledge and skills relating to presentation of seminar papers to a general audience.

(LO3) Students will develop knowledge and skills relating to the presentation of a conference poster for specialist readers.

Syllabus

 

The main components will be:

Preparation of two seminar paper abstracts, of increasing length and detail.

Preparing and delivering two seminar presentations to students and staff, involved with the MA programme.

Preparing a conference poster for a broader audience in the School.
