About

Personal Statement

I am a medical microbiologist and infectious disease physician by training. My research interest lies in the area of understanding infectious disease pathogenesis and immune response. My current works mainly focused on the paediatric infectious agents, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus, commonly known as GBS) and Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). I want to understand how bacterial and viral coinfection modulate the disease course in human and affect the microbial ecosystem in health and disease. I also expand my research on understanding the immune response against the pathogen after natural infection or immunisation leading to the discovery of correlates of protection to a vaccine.
