The Liverpool Brain Infections Group is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and basic scientists, headed by Professor Tom Solomon, based at the University of Liverpool's Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences, with overseas field stations and strong international collaborations.

Funding

‌Members of the Brain Infections Group have discussed and advised on Japanese encephalitis vaccine development and implementation, for no fee, with major stakeholders that include WHO, the Japanese encephalitis vaccine working group of the ACIP, the Japanese encephalitis programme at PATH, Novartis, Intercell, Acambis, Sanofi-Pasteur, and smaller Asian companies.

The University of Liverpool is also in discussions with industrial partners about applying for Wellcome Trust sponsorship of an Interdisciplinary Training Programme for Clinicians in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics, which requires Wellcome Funding to be matched by funding from industrial partners.
