    Research Interest 1

My main area of research is post-war Britain and the impact of suburbanisation on community networks. I’m particularly interested in challenging existing stereotypes of suburbia as disconnected from urban life. As part of my research I’m also exploring the role of associational activity in creating important social and cultural networks, and the way gender and race have influenced associational engagement.
