New Chinese film series at FACT cinema
As part of FACT cinema's 'How much of this is fiction' exhibition, Dr Leon Rocha is curating a new series of Chinese films - 'The Cultural Politics of Chinese Cinema: From Wire-fu Fantasies to Historical Epics'.
Through three films, the series will explore propaganda, memory and the globality of Chinese cinema. It will look at how these films speak to different aspects of cultural politics in contemporary China.
The series links in with History's undergraduate degree, which includes a module on Chinese history and cinema.
The 'How much of this is fiction' exhibition opens on 2 March 2017 and explores the radical shift in the boundary between fiction and reality in a world increasingly governed by ‘post-truth’ politics.
