Funding success for Liverpool graduates

We’ve had lots of good news of success for Liverpool graduates in obtaining support for further research and academic development at the University of Liverpool and elsewhere.

  • Jessica Butler has been awarded a PhD studentship by the Wellcome Trust for a project on ‘Paternal Child-Murder and Insanity in Victorian London, Manchester and Liverpool’. She will be based at the University of Liverpool, supervised by Dr Andy Davies and Professor Sally Sheard.
  • Fabiola Creed has received full funding to undertake a Masters and carry out PhD research at the University of Warwick on a history of ‘tanorexia’ in Britain (with the primary case study in Liverpool).
  • Tom Cullen has been awarded a full graduate teaching assistant at the University of Georgia where he will be undertaking a Masters
  • Emma Cummings has received full Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding to do a PhD at the University of Leeds on British military policy in the Empire in the inter-war period.
  • Felix Goodbody was awarded a 1+3 Williamson studentship by the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine at Manchester University to undertake a Masters and a PhD.
  • Abbie Miladinovic received AHRC funding to undertake a PhD based at the University of Manchester, including supervision by Dr Graham Milne of the University of Liverpool.
  • And, finally, Beth Wilson (currently completing the MA in International Slavery Studies) has secured an AHRC North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership (NWCDTP) +3 full-time award for a PhD project examining the emotional and psychological impact of slavery in the Deep South, 1830-1880. Beth will be based at the University of Liverpool, supervised by Dr Stephen Kenny, Dr Deana Heath and Dr Celia Donert.
