Liverpool PhD student Beth Wilson has been awarded a Franklin College-University of Liverpool Doctoral Student Short-Term International Research Fellowship, which will take them to the University of Georgia (UGA) in the USA.

Beth Said:

"I'm very happy to have been awarded a Franklin College-University of Liverpool Doctoral Student Short-Term International Research Fellowship, which gives me the opportunity to travel to the University of Georgia later this year.

My research explores the emotional dimensions of ‘ex-slave documents’ produced in the 1930s in the United States and a considerable section of my thesis analyses ex-slave interviews conducted in Georgia.

A number of documents that were created as part of this project are held at the archives at UGA, so I am looking forward to spending part of my fellowship exploring their archives. The UGA history department also has a strong interest in U.S. history and the history of slavery, and I look forward to discussing my work with experts based in Georgia, such as my host, Professor John Inscoe."

Congratulations Beth!
