Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The School of Health Sciences realises the importance of ongoing professional development for healthcare practitioners. Our CPD courses enable practitioners to deliver high quality, evidence-based health care.

The School offers a range of credit and non-credit bearing continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities. Credit-bearing modules are offered both as part of the School’s taught postgraduate programmes and as standalone modules.

We offer a multi-disciplinary approach to education, supporting the changing and advancing roles of healthcare practitioners in modern care settings.

Furthermore, they equip health professionals with the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours to deliver safe and high-quality care to their patients whilst ensuring an integrated approach to healthcare delivery that can be tailored to local populations.

Our profession-specific modules enable professionals to focus their development in highly specialised areas of practice.

Whether the practitioner takes a more generic or specialised approach to their learning, they will be provided with opportunities to discuss “next steps” in their professional learning journey.

Some CPD will be hybrid in nature, consisting of some face-to-face teaching (either virtually or on campus) with online study whilst others will be based entirely online. Either approach will ensure that the programme is more accessible and attractive for the healthcare practitioners that they have been tailored for.

We are committed to working in collaboration with local NHS partners and other agencies to develop bespoke CPD opportunities that meet the specific professional development needs of their workforces.
