Health Science International

The University of Liverpool welcomes international students on all of our Health Science programmes. We understand that it can be a daunting process trying to establish which route is right for progression onto a specific programme, especially if you are new to the education system in the UK. Below you will find information on the different pathways for international students.

Undergraduate International UCAS applicants

If you are classified as an international student and you are a school leaver or a recent graduate you may be eligible to apply via UCAS for our undergraduate programmes directly. Unfortunately, we are not able to assess international qualifications until you have made an application via UCAS, but you can find out if your recent qualifications meet our requirements on our international qualification comparison page. This page gives a helpful comparison to A Levels for specific international territories. Please see our individual subject pages for information on our A-Level requirements. Depending on your status you may need to also provide evidence of a suitable english language qualification.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

Students whose native language is not English must show evidence of an IELTS score of Level 7 (minimum) with no component lower than 6.5. (7.0 for nursing). Success at interview is also required.

KAPLAN International Foundation Year

If you are classified as an international student but your qualifications do not meet the minimum requirements for entry we do accept students who successfully complete the Foundation Certificate in Science and Engineering (Health and Medicine) Programme with Kaplan at the University of Liverpool International College. Success at interview is also required.

Mature Students presenting with International Qualifications.

If you are resident of the UK and classified as a Home/EU national, then you may be eligible to apply via UCAS for our undergraduate programmes if you meet the minimum requirements. Please see above for more information and links to our country specific information.

If you are presenting with international qualifications and have been out of education for some time (5 years minimum), then you may be eligible for our Foundation to Health & Veterinary Studies programme. Please note that this programme is only open to Home/EU students (may include those with Refugee Status). Please see the subject page for the foundation programme for more information on eligibility. If you are unsure of your Home/International classification we are able to send you a fee questionnaire to establish your fee status, but we are only able to do this once you have made an application to one of our programmes.

Selection

Selection follows the same procedures as for home/EU applicants. No offers are made without interview; applicants will be expected to travel to the UK for their interview, however, if this is not possible, a Skype interview may be arranged. Following interview, offers are made conditional on the overseas status of the applicant being unchanged at the time of registration. Evidence of successful completion of the qualifications is required for successful entry onto the health science programme. Only original documents will be accepted, no photocopies. Applicants will also be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check and are required to supply a letter of ‘good character’ from their local police authority.

Applications for overseas and home places are dealt with independently as the competition from within each pool of applicants is different. Thus if the status of an overseas student changes then the offer for a place may be withdrawn as the applicant may not be considered competitive for an offer of a home place and there may be no home places available at the time the fee-status change occurs. The opposite situation is also true.

Due to the necessity to complete placements in the clinical environment, an additional fee will be levied to cover the costs for this, which will be over and above the standard international university fee. Information available here

A great place to study
