Centre for Genomic Research

Unlocking the power of genomics

As a NERC UK service provider and an Medical Research Council genomics hub, the Centre for Genomic Research (CGR) already has a nationally recognised reputation. Since 2008 it has collaborated in over 150 peer-reviewed publications and raised more than £24 million in research income. The Centre recently sequenced and analysed the notoriously complex wheat genome, an undertaking that won it international recognition and a publication in Nature.

Underpinning this success is a high level of expertise among its staff, robust management, and an ongoing investment in the latest next generation sequencing (NGS) platforms and complementary technologies. The Centre currently supports 7 NGS platforms from a selection of manufacturers including Illumina, Pacific Biosciences and Life Technologies. Alongside this, the Centre also offers access to Affymetrix and Agilent microarray platforms and the NanoString nCounter and complete bioinformatic support.
