Please be aware that parking on the University campus is extremely limited. We strongly recommend that visitors use public transport wherever possible.
Travel and parking
Please note there are also currently unscheduled roadworks around campus, including on Mount Pleasant, that may increase your journey time so please factor this into your travel plans carefully.
Since parking on campus is limited, we strongly recommend using public transport to get to your ceremony. The University campus is only a short walk or taxi ride away from the city centre and all its national and international transport links. See the Visiting the University for more information.
Car parking
The public multi-storey car park on Mount Pleasant is the largest nearby parking facility. See Liverpool City Council Parking for a list of city centre car parks and how much they charge.
On campus, the following visitor car parks will be available for a charge and on a strictly first come, first served basis:
- Mount Pleasant Car Park - accessed opposite the Metropolitan Cathedral
- Brownlow Street Car Park - accessed from Pembroke Place.

Staying in Liverpool
Liverpool is a busy tourist city and this summer, it will also be hosting the Open Golf Championship during our graduation week, which may impact the availability of hotels and other accommodation.
To help with this, we’re able to offer our graduating students a preferential rate at Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village and special rates at Hope Street Hotel.
Hope Street Hotel
Hope Street Hotel sits handsomely in the heart of Liverpool’s Georgian neighbourhood. We have awesome, artistic and clever neighbours - Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Everyman Theatre and a plethora of University departments, independent restaurants and infamous public houses. Two magnificent cathedrals bookend Hope Street and all are within a short stroll from the hotel’s front door.
Hope Street Hotel's look is city chic with original features of pink Cheshire brick, iron pillars and pitch pine beams. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8:00am–7:00pm, and Saturday to Sunday, 9:00am–5:00pm. When booking, please quote "UOL Graduation". Alternatively, you can email reservations@hopestreethotel.com.
Please note that full pre-payment is required at the time of booking for these special rates. Bookings are non-refundable and non-cancellable.
Availability is limited, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village
Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village is located on the eastern edge of our campus, with good access to the M62 and is around a 15-minute walk to our graduation venue, the Philharmonic Hall.
Novotel are offering our graduating students and their guests special rates on both single and double rooms on a bed and breakfast basis.

Inviting family from overseas
Friends or family coming to your graduation from overseas may require a Standard Visitor visa to attend your graduation ceremony. You will need to make sure that you have registered to attend on the graduation portal and then request a graduation status letter by email. Your graduation status letter will then be sent to you by return of email.
