Whilst you’re studying with us, we hope that you take advantage of living in one of the UK’s most exciting cities. Outside of London, the city of Liverpool has the fastest growing economy, more green space and more museums and galleries than any other city. What’s more, our nightlife and music scenes are legendary through the UK.

With more galleries and museums than any city in the UK outside London, Liverpool is an art-lovers paradise; from old masters to modern masterpieces and cutting-edge film, photography and visual arts.
Turn a corner in Liverpool and you will stumble across a theatre venue too, the most renowned of which stages premiers by local and international writers, as well as hosting popular touring West End productions.

Music
You may know The Beatles, but Liverpool has so much more!
Whether you prefer to see big names in stadium size venues or the newest talent in underground clubs, Liverpool is the place to be. Summer in Liverpool brings internationally acclaimed music and cultural festivals, and all year round, Liverpool has a thriving underground music scene, with lots of venues to cater to all tastes.
It’s not all pop music and festivals though. Classical music fans should not miss the world renowned Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, just a 5 minute walk from campus.

Sport
Liverpool is sport mad. Home to two of the Premiership's biggest football teams, Liverpool and Everton, both stadiums are a mile or so from the city centre and open for visits. If you want tickets for a Liverpool game though, you’d better book in advance!
Locally there is county cricket, golf on England's Golf Coast, Rugby League at St Helens and Widnes and ample opportunities for sailing, kayaking and open water swimming from the very centre of the city!

Shopping
Liverpool is a shopping destination to rival any city; many stores in the centre of the city are open late into the evening, along with restaurants and a nearby multiplex cinema.
Close to campus there is a high-end and designer fashion at the Met Quarter and Cavern Walks, as well as the very popular Liverpool One shopping centre. Just a short stroll from there you can find small, eclectic boutiques and quirky shops, in Bold Street, offering a range of styles from urban streetwear to vintage fashion.

Eating Out & Night Life
There is an incredible range of cafes, bistros and restaurants in Liverpool appealing to all tastes and budgets. The City is becoming famous for its diverse and forward thinking independent food scene, and Scousers are known for enjoying a big night out!
There's traditional food in the grand surroundings of Hope Street, fast food of all kinds around Ropewalks, or you could enjoy afternoon tea with breathtaking 360° views across the city from Panoramic 34. You can eat cheaply at student hangouts, visit Europe’s oldest Chinatown, or splurge on a three course feast at an internationally recognised restaurant.
To get a sample of the city's truly independent food culture, head to the Baltic Market, just 10 minutes from the University and the city centre. Alternatively, head to Duke Street Food and Drink Market and sample food from a large number of independent restaurants
After you've eaten, take your pick of where to go out from student friendly parties to celebrity hotspots - everything is within easy walking distance in the city centre.

Time Out for Nature
In the south of the city you will find Sefton Park and Lark Lane, home to chilled-out bars, restaurants, and an eclectic mix of independent shops. Sefton Park also hosts music and food festivals over summer. It’s a quick train ride from the centre of town.
Or head to the north of the city to find Formby which offers an unspoilt stretch of National Trust coastline, or Crosby Beach to see Antony Gormley's 'Another Place', an installation of 100 life-size statues stretching into the water.
Liverpool is also within easy reach of the Lake District, North Wales and the Peak District.

Safety and Security
Liverpool has been rated as the safest city in the UK (Confused.com, 2021) and was voted the fourth friendliest city in the world by travel gurus ‘Rough Guides’. Our Campus Support Team operate to ensure a safe and secure, crime-free environment within the University community, through the provision of a proactive and vigilant Campus Support Officers. The team also provides a Chaperone Service within the campus grounds 24 hours a day subject to availability of officer staff. The University also has a Police Liaison Officer on campus.
