Heritage Conservation

The Africa Endowment Fund will enable us to build a research and Heritage Conservation Centre in the Luangwa Valley (Zambia) as part of our ongoing research in this poorly known region of south-central Africa.

The Centre, equipped with labs and storage facilities, will provide a base for archaeological exploration and training, but also serve the local community as an educational and economic resource.

For the many international visitors to the Luangwa Valley who come to see the famed wildlife, the Heritage and Conservation Centre will offer a window on the history and contemporary lives of the Valley’s peoples.
The construction of the Luangwa Heritage Conservation Centre, LHCC, will be paid for by the endowment fund and the facility will be staffed and maintained by Zambia’s National Heritage Conservation Commission.
