PhD Studentships

PhD Studentships

Physical Geography now have a range of fully funded PhD studentships available for 2019.

The Department offers a wide range of opportunities for PhD and MPhil study in the disciplinary field of Human and Physical Geography and Town and Regional Planning and we welcome applications from and both home and international students.

For both Human Geography and Planning, funding is available through the ESRC North West Doctoral Training Centre. Human Geography is home to two pathways: Geography and Environment and Social Statistics; Planning is home to the Environmental Planning Pathway. North West Doctoral Training Centre gives our PhD students access to funding for their studies, through both an Open Competition and CASE (projects being partnered with external body). Please take a look at our available CASE studentships.

For Physical Geography, we have been successful in obtaining Postgraduate Research funding through a Natural Environment Research Council Doctoral Training Program (DTP) and through an EPSRC/ESRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in the Institute for Risk and Uncertainty. Please take a look at our available studentships. Other topics are also available for funding through other sources.

If you have funding from elsewhere and are interested in finding a supervisor please look at our list of staff research interests.
