Big Bang Festival 2019

The annual All About STEM careers festival (the Big Bang NW) was held at the Liverpool Exhibition Centre on July 2nd. From the School of Environmental Sciences, Oceans Science and Geography groups had stands at the festival. Ocean Science drew people to their stand with videos of feeding zooplankton and a microscope through which people could look at plankton samples collected recently by our students on the Sea Practical. The most popular activity was the chance for the school children to make their own plankton out of plasticine, pipe-cleaners and googly-eyes.

A big thanks to our PGR students and recent graduates who worked the stands – it was a tiring and intense day, but thoroughly successful.
