The Centre is seeking to recruit for the following positions:

TECHNICIAN GRADE 5

This is a technical role supporting genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV2 in wastewater. This is a new tool able to gain insight into the spread of new variants nationally. You will form part of a multi-disciplinary team, comprising academics, postdoctoral fellows and technical staff that is focused on delivering high-quality data and analyses to collaborating scientists. You will assist the Laboratory Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the project. You will have the opportunity to develop your molecular laboratory skills within a leading genomics centre. You should be educated to BTEC Higher level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject). The post is available until 31 March 2022 with the possibility of extension for a further 3 months subject to funding.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE GRADE 7

You will help to drive the genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV2 in wastewater. This is a new tool able to gain insight into the spread of new variants nationally. You will form part of a multi-disciplinary team, comprising academics, postdoctoral fellows and technical staff that is focused on delivering data, analyses and insights to inform public health. You will use your skills in bioinformatics or statistics to deliver new insights into the emergence and spread of SARS-CoV2 variants from large volumes of genomic data and associated metadata. You will help produce to scientific papers, conference presentations and government reports. a PhD (in biological science, computer science or statistics is required. The post is available until 31 March 2022 with the possibility of extension of a further 3 months depending upon funding.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT/ POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE GRADE 6/7

You will form part of a multi-disciplinary team, comprising academics, postdoctoral fellows and technical staff that is focused on delivering data, analyses and insights to inform public health. You will work with Laboratory Manager in ensuring the smooth running of this project. You will have excellent molecular laboratory skills. You will develop or implement new methodologies and help produce to scientific papers, conference presentations and government reports. Level of appointment will be dependent upon experience and qualifications. For appointment at Research Assistant level you should have a Master¿s Degree (Grade 6) or Postdoctoral Research Associate level PhD (Grade 7) in biological science or related subject. The post is available until 31 March 2022.
