Steve received a degree in Genetics from Edinburgh and a PhD from Cambridge, followed by post-doctoral positions and a lectureship at Stirling before moving to Liverpool in 2003.

Professor Alistair Darby
CGR Co-Director
Alistair is a Professor in the Department of Functional and Comparative Genomics at the University of Liverpool. His main area of research in microbial/host interactions which covers his interest in arthropod symbiosis, pathogens and microbiomes.
Kathryn Jackson
Centre Manager
Kathryn obtained her MSc in Biomedical Sciences, specialising in microbiology in 1997. She has a wide variety of experience across the range from bench microbiology through research and development to senior technical management and business development. Following working in the NHS she moved into private industry (both large multinational and SME) and then into academia in 2006 where she focussed on research programme management for large collaborative programmes of research until joining the CGR in 2017.
Dr Sam Haldenby
Head of Informatics
Sam obtained his BSc and PhD in microbial genetics from the University of Nottingham. Following this he worked for Source Bioscience Plc, but later returned to academia to take on a core informatician role at the University of Cambridge before moving to the University of Liverpool
Dr Anita Lucaci
Sequence Production Manager
Anita received a PhD in Biological Sciences from the Biological Research Centre in Szeged, Hungary. She was appointed in February 2013 as Research Associate in the Centre for Genomic Research in the sequencing production team. In June 2019 she moved to the Interim Sequence Production Manager position.
Dr Linda D'Amore
Business Development and Project Manager
Linda graduated from the University of Naples “Federico II” with a BSc and MSc in Plant Biotechnology and received a PhD in plant breeding and pathology studying the expression of genes involved in the biosynthesis of plant secondary metabolite.
Dr Christopher Owen
Business Development and Project Manager
Chris graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BSc in Genetics and moved to the University of Leeds where he received a PhD in Molecular Virology.
