LOCATION:
SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid Course 1 for Year 3 Psychology Students
DESCRIPTION:Join our 2 day university-funded MHFA (adult) course to become a Mental Health First Aider. This course is open to third-year Psychology students only and places are extremely limited. Before you register, please ensure that you can attend both training days- 09.00-17.00 Friday 26th November and 09.00-17.00 Friday 3rd December as partial attendance is not possible. What the course is:The course will help you to approach, assess and assist in any crisis as well as opening up the conversation around wellbeing and recovery. The two days are split into 4 distinct sessions and will cover a range of mental health conditions, an action plan to be able to support those in need, as well as activities to help you to learn best practice when offering wellbeing information to others. These sessions are very interactive and require group work, presentation (through feedback) and problem-solving with others. What the course is not:This is a qualification that helps empower people to intervene if they feel someone is in need of mental health support. It does not qualify us to diagnose conditions but helps signpost and refer people to the best support possible. The course covers quite sensitive topics which can be challenging for some, depending upon our frame of reference and life experiences. The course is not a therapeutic space and so may not suit students who are looking for their own answers regarding their wellbeing. However, if you are struggling, seek support from student services in Alsop Building- don't suffer in silence, there's always someone to help. You will find more information on the course here: https://mhfaengland.org/ but if you do have any questions before booking your place, please let me know. I look forward to meeting you in November!IF THIS EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED, PLEASE JOIN THE WAITLIST TO BE NOTIFIED IF A SPACE BECOMES AVAILABLE.
