DESCRIPTION:Join us on Monday 14 June at 1.00pm (BST) for our special online event, ‘A Magical Mystery Tour of Liverpool.’As Liverpool’s tourist economy reopens following lockdown, our special panel event will look at The Beatles’ enduring legacy and their economic impact on tourism in the city, whilst also discussing the arts and music scene and hopes for the city returning to normal following the pandemic.  Join our host, Dr Mike Jones, from the University of Liverpool’s Department of Music, who will be joined by special guests and alumni, Bill Heckle and Colin Hall alongside Sales Manager of the Hard Days Night Hotel Janet Morris.Dr Mike Jones is a Senior Lecturer, Beatles expert and Programme Director for the MA Music Industry Studies. Mike co-wrote a report in 2013 into the economic value of Beatles tourism to the Liverpool economy.Award-winning alumnus, Bill Heckle, runs the world-famous Cavern Club in Liverpool as well as the Magical Mystery Tour and a number of other Beatles-themed tourism businesses in the city, all of which have played a significant part in turning Liverpool into a major tourist destination. The Cavern has seen a number high profile visitors and performers over the years, among them Yoko Ono Lennon herself. Fellow alumnus Colin Hall is a former teacher and music promoter, an occasional music journalist (BBC Radio 2) and author whose most recent book was Pre:Fab! The Story of One Man, His Drums, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Colin is the National Trust custodian of John Lennon’s House in Woolton, Liverpool, a mecca for Beatles’ fans and tourists to the city.The event is another in our ‘Yoko Series’ of online events, as we celebrate the opening of the University of Liverpool’s new Yoko Ono Lennon Centre in Spring 2022 and the commencement of the MA in The Beatles: Music Industry and Heritage in September this year.Our campaign is now only £154,000 away from our fundraising target and our ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ event is asking for your help to get us over the line.
